I have been the Chief Animal Control Officer of Bridgeport now for five years and this has been the toughest job I have ever had. People assume I get to play with cats and dogs all day but in fact we are a dumping ground for animals. It is a difficult job which I am honored to be in a position that I can make a difference but I now feel it is time to step up and do something to end this revolving door of animals.  The City of Bridgeport is beginning to come back around and I would like to be a part of this wave of growth and prosperity.

I am proposing an Animal Resource Center… Think of a place where you can come for low cost spaying and neutering, low cost grooming, a pet food pantry, classrooms filled with children learning about pet safety, bite attack prevention and proper pet animal care. As you read my proposal, you will realize that the core of my proposal is not only surrounded around animals but community. I also have to mention that the amount of money we could save the City of Bridgeport over the next 5 to 10 years is staggering.

At this point, we are in the process of securing the empty Whittier School in Black Rock to use for our animal center.  We are currently looking for supporters to contact their City Council Representative and express their enthusiasm regarding our upcoming project, and/or sign our online petition www.change.org/petitions/city-of-bridgeport-bridgeport-city-council-support-the-bridgeport-animal-resource-center which we will be presenting to the City Council on December 5^th, 2011.  If you do not know who your City Council Representative is, just go to www.bridgeportct.gov/CityCouncil/Pages/DistrictLookup.aspx and type in your address and it will tell you what district you are in or email me your address and I will look it up for you.  We really do appreciate your anticipated support.
